PET EVACUATION Signs are available for download to add to your disaster preparedness kit! See link on left to download under "handouts".
Wilson County DART in partnership with Country K-9 Rescue and Triumph the Dog combined to donate Animal Oxygen Masks for all of the Wilson County EMA Fire Engines. This will improve pet care on scenes of fires and emergencies. THANK YOU Country K-9 and Triumph!
Wilson DART would like to express our thanks to the TEMA DART team for providing the State DART trailer to demo at the 2007 Wilson County Fair. Information pamphlets on planning and managing animals during disaster were also distributed.
DISASTER PREP:
Click to find a list of hotels in Wilson County, TN that allow pets. Print out this list and add it to your evacuation kit so that you have a place to go that is pet friendly during a disaster.

Dam Failure Preparedness:
Flood waters from a breach of either Center Hill or Wolf Creek Dam will reach Wilson County very quickly. Please have an evacuation plan in place if you live in an area that will be flooded or cut off by flood waters.

The TEMA individual DART member credentialing process was held on July 12, 2007 and we are now in the process of creating the Wilson County DART Plan and training team members. We are ACTIVELY recruiting new members, so please contact us if you are interested in joining the team, we will provide the training for you! See the bottom of the page for contact information. Bring a copy of your IS 100/200/700 to the next meeting so that we can get you on the team!
There is a great need to have special teams to respond to assist animals in times of disaster. The Wilson County DART team will provide assistance during local emergencies such as overturned trailers hauling livestock, animals who are trapped, providing shelters after a tornado, or assisting in larger scale disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes or terrorist attacks against both manmade or agricultural targets.
The Wilson County Disaster Animal Response Team is made up of volunteers throughout the community who have experience working with large or small animals, both domesticated and livestock, and are willing to assist with caring for these animals during emergencies or disasters. If you are interested in joining us please contact us via the information provided at the bottom of the page.
Requirements for individual accredited DART status:
TEMA DART Certification Course
In addition to full DART members, we are seeking volunteers who will be able to assist with animal feeding, walking, and basic needs care during disasters. If you are interested in joining us to help out in this way please contact us so that we can get you signed up with our team! No previous experience is required, we will providing the training for you.
